Shinta Puluchu/Tamarind Rasam

  So,heres the tamrind rasam recipe.


  • How to make tamarind rasam/shinta puluchu:







  • Ingredients:
         1. Tamarind (1 small bowl)
         2. Curry leaves/Kadipatta
         3. Onion (1 no cut long lengthwise)
         4. Green chillies (3-4 green chillies)
         5. Oil (1 tblspn)
         6. Mustard seeds (rai)
         7. Cumin seeds (jeera)
         8. Garlic cloves (6-7 chopped)
         9. Red chilli powder (1 tspn)
        10. Turmeric powder (haldi)
        11. Salt to taste
        12. Water (2-3 cups)



  • Preparation & Cooking:
         1. Soak the tamarind for half to 1 hr in water.
         2. With hands crush the tamarind in the water.
         3. Heat oil in a wok/kadhai,add mustard & cumin seeds,curry leaves & saute
             for 1 min on low flame.
        4. Add the green chillies,red chilli powder,turmeric powder and saute for 2 mins.
        5. Add the tamarind water in the kadhai and mix well. Boil just for 1-2 mins.
        6. Add the chopped garlic,onion,salt & mix all the ingredients & turn off the flame.
        7. The tamarind rasam/shinta puluchu is ready to eat.
        8. Serve with the steamed rice & enjoy.
