Spinach with urad dal

  • Palak/Spinach urad dal sabji

  • Ingredients:
          1. Spinach/Palak leaves (of 1 bunch)
          2. Urad dal (1/2 small bowl)
          3. Mustard seeds (rai)
          4. Cumin seeds (jeera)
          5. Garlic-Ginger paste (wet masala)
          6. Turmeric powder (haldi)
          7. Onion (1 medium chopped)
          8. Greenn chillies (3-4 chopped)
          9. Tomato (1 no chopped)
         10. Salt to taste
         11. Water

  • Preparation & Cooking:
         1. Soak urad dal for one hour.Boil about 2 cups of water and add urad dal.
             Cook dal till it is soft.
         2. Heat oil in a non stick pan, add mustard & cumin seeds.
         3. After the seeds crackle, add chopped onion and saute for 1 min.
         4. Add 1 teaspn garlic-ginger paste (wet masala) and saute for 1 min.
         5. Add the chopped green chillies and tomato, saute and cook for 2 mins.
         6. Wash and clean the spinach leaves, chop,add and mix well.
         7. Add salt and saute for 2 mins.
         8. Add the cooked urad dal to the pan, mix well and cook for 10 mins.
         9. The palak urad dal sabji is ready to eat with rotis.
